Wadey Centre

Wadey Centre

Blackfalds Historical Society, in conjunction with the Town of Blackfalds would like to make you aware of two new things that will be starting on Thursday, Jan 9, 2020 at the Wadey Centre.

  1.  The Wadey Centre, originally an EATON HOUSE, was ordered from the catalogue and delivered by rail to the Blackfalds siding.  Mr. George Wadey, a competent carpenter, assembled the house for his family.  In  2017, using a grant from the federal government for Canada’s 150th birthday, the house was renovated and moved to 4400 South Street, Blackfalds.  The Wadey family donated most of the original furniture from the house.
  2.  The Wadey Centre  will be open to the public every Thursday  starting on  January 9 until April 30 from 1:00 à 4:00 pm.
  3. Additionally, the Historical Society of Blackfalds is running a Trivia contest about the history of Blackfalds.  A new question each Thursday will be available either on the Town of Blackfalds website, or you can pick it up in person at Wadey Centre.   For each correctly answered question, your name will be entered into a draw for $100 worth of gift certificates to be spent in Blackfalds at the Abbey Centre, After the Grind coffee shop or Dad’s Day Off Games and Hobbies.  You can bring your answers to the Wadey Centre any Thursday afternoon up until April 23.    If you have questions about this contest, please feel free to contact either Linda Jaffray at 403-304-7317 or Terry (Wadey) Mulrooney at 403-396-2824.
